To the Legislative Assembly of Alberta and the appropriate independent authorities:

We, the undersigned residents of Alberta, are calling for a transparent and independent examination of Premier Danielle Smith’s communications, meetings, relationships and interactions with political figures, organizations, lobbyists and advocacy groups based in the United States where those interactions may have influenced, or attempted to influence, public policy in Alberta.

Albertans have the right to know who is influencing the decisions made by their provincial government.

We are asking for:

1. Full disclosure of relevant meetings and communications between the Premier’s Office and U.S. political organizations, representatives, lobbyists or advocacy groups.
2. An independent review to determine whether any foreign organization or political interest has improperly influenced Alberta government policy or decision-making.
3. Disclosure of any funding, organized advocacy, strategic assistance or coordinated political activity connected to outside organizations.
4. A public report of the findings, so Albertans can judge the facts for themselves.
5. Clear safeguards against inappropriate foreign political influence over Alberta’s democratic institutions and public policy.

This petition is not asking Albertans to accept an allegation as fact. It is asking for the facts.

If there has been no improper influence, an independent investigation can establish that.

If there has been, Albertans deserve to know.

Alberta belongs to Albertans. Our government should answer to the people who live here, not political interests outside Canada.

We are asking for transparency, accountability and an independent investigation.
