Alberta’s public health is in crisis from a poorly managed response to COVID-19. 

According to CBC, “A group of Alberta physicians is warning that the province's health-care system is on the verge of collapse due to a staffing crisis, overwhelmed intensive care units and mixed messaging from the province.”

CTV reported today, September 13, that ICU admissions in Alberta reached its highest levels ever, and with 4,740 new COVID-19 cases. This accounts for almost half of all cases in Canada despite Alberta having only 11% of our country’s population. 

Despite worsening COVID-19 deaths (as high as 19 per day), Deena Hinshaw has not taken meaningful measures to slow the spread, or protect children under age 12 and those unable to be vaccinated.

Given the abysmal and worsening state of COVID in the province, it is clear that Dr. Hinshaw is either unable or unwilling to provide measures to keep Albertans safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. Never mind that Hinshaw’s premature declaration of an endemic and her lifting of COVID restrictions are a cause of the deadly 4th wave crisis currently facing Albertans. 

While there have been daily calls from Albertans for Hinshaw to resign, a formal petition for her to be removed from office has not been initiated so I have decided to begin one. 

We deserve better. Sign below to ask that she be removed from the office of Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH) of Alberta.
