Ashley Carter was loved  by so many people. Her life was cut short, and our lives as a family and community were forever changed. On Feb. 10, 2003 Toni took a piece of our hearts. Ashley was loving, kind, quiet, and an all around athlete. She didn't deserve to be murdered at the place she thought was supposed to be safe. Ashley came to school anticipating  to learn, and being among friends. Unfortunately, Toni came with a completely different objective. She came to school that day with the motive and objective to kill. The choice she made that day not only affected her future, but ours too. Our family will forever mourn the loss of the one person that bought so much love and laughter to us all. We will never be able to see the greatness that lied within Ashley, flourish to its full potential. Toni Kimbrough took a life from us, that we will never be able to get back. As a collective, we are not asking for her to pay for her choices and mistakes with her life, but we are asking for her to be held accountable for her actions by serving her minimum sentence of 25 years. Ashley's beautiful life was taken from us, and we can never get it back. However, Toni has the opportunity to see her family again and the option and/opportunity to start a new life if she chooses. Her actions were deemed punishable by law, and our ask is to simply enforce the law. Please do not release her back into society with out serving her time. The closest we can get to justice, is her serving her full sentence. The closest we can get to Ashley is the memory in our hearts.
