Justice For Zeke

The Issue

In 1995, my cousin, Joshua Mazique Burton, Sr. (AKA Obeeka Abdullah Siddiq) was arrested in Houston, TX for a carjacking which he did not commit. He was eventually convicted and sentenced to fifty years in prison. However, I believe that if his case is thoroughly re-examined, it will become clear that he is innocent. His case was marred by police misconduct, mishandling of evidence, witness coercion, ineffective assistance of counsel, and, most importantly, misidentification.

As of the writing of this petition, my cousin has been wrongly imprisoned for twenty-five years. He has children, grandchildren, and other family members who miss and love him dearly. I have created this petition in hopes of drawing attention to his situation and having his case re-opened. It is way past time for Zeke to come home. He has been in prison far too long for a crime which he did not commit, and in which no one was injured. So, in the interest of fairness and justice, I am appealing to all who read this petition to sign, share, and forward it to as many people as possible in order to obtain justice for Zeke. Thank you!
