Return Debby's Money

The Issue

Debby Djodjobo has worked at the National Visa Center for twelve
years as a File Clerk in many departments. She became a Naturalized Citizen while employed there. Currently she works in Facial Recognition, and is employed by Lockwood Hills.
In 2020, Debby waived her medical benefits in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement: waived the option on her open enrollment, provided a copy of her spouse’s group insurance card. FCE (the benefits provider) deducted the cost of the medical insurance anyway. She was never sent her medical insurance cards, she never used the medical insurance, she did not know she had it.
Lockwood Hills employees were unable to access LDRM/FCE Benefits site during 2020 to verify distribution of dollars for benefits she approved. Why would she feel the need to check?
During 2020 her husband became seriously ill, and then of course COVID-19 reared its ugly head. In order for her to be the caretaker for her husband, she was allowed to move to second shift. She worked many weeks of reduced hours, collected NO unemployment, and was the only source of income for the family.
When, in 2021, the new benefits kicked in, and Lockwood Hills finally created a site that their employees could access, Debby accessed it. To her surprise, she realized that she had been paying for something she had refused, and never used. After communications with LDRM Human Resources and Senior Management, they have refused to return her money. This could happen to any one of us.

Imagine this: someone mistakenly takes your money, but then refuses to return it. There is a word for that…

We know of two other employees who completed LDRM’s waiver “process” and still had money deducted from their pay. It was returned, but it does show that this company is less than perfect.

We are asking that employees sign this petition asking that LDRM return the over $7,200 to Debby. You are the union; it is hundreds of people who can make a difference.
