** � Christmas Lights � **

The Council have decided that there should no no Christmas lights this year. 
Mental health is massive issue at this time, COVID-19 has already challenged everyone this year. What harm will some lights do?

Whilst I appreciate we should not have a light up ceremony, surely there is no harm in having lights on the trees and streets, this will lift people’s spirits, especially the kids. 

Neil Gray MP wrote

”I have been contacted by loads of people across Airdrie & Shotts, but particularly in Shotts and Harthill, upset that the Council has cut Christmas lights this year.

I have written to the Council asking them to reconsider and provide the lights.

With Covid-19 making things so hard this year, we could do with having Christmas to look forward to and cheer us all up. I have also asked, if they continue to refuse will they allow lights that have been privately provided.”

What harm are Christmas lights  surely this wil lift people’s spirit at this already trying time.
