AIIMS in Amritsar. 

Amritsar historically also known as Rāmdāspur and colloquially as Ambarsar, is a city in northwestern India which is located in the Majha region of Punjab. Home of the glorious Golden Temple, the iconic city of Amritsar, portrays the heroic character of the Punjab. Amritsar is the Spiritual Capital and Cultural Centre of the Sikh Religion. Amritsar is the most Important & Global City of Punjab. Amritsar today is a thriving city with active trade and tourism industries. 

This Petition is all about the request to the Government of India to establish AIIMS in Amritsar Sahib which is the most Important & Global City of Punjab. But Currently, don't have such Govt. Hospital which can provide all types of health facilities to the residents & people of nearby towns, district's. The social infrastructure of Amritsar requires multiple categories of health care — both public and private. People from Majha region currently depend upon costly private hospitals which are out of reach for middle and low income groups families.

Local Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, which is attached to Government Medical College, Amritsar, has cherished history as it was established in Lahore, in 1864. Later, it was relocated here in 1920. Currently, its campus is spread over 165 acres. AIIMS Delhi and the PGIMER Chandigarh started functioning by shifting renowned faculty of Government Medical College, Amritsar. It is the oldest medical institution of North India in Amritsar.

This medical college may also be upgraded to the level of AIIMS. The establishment of AIIMS in the Amritsar City will be a real tribute to Guru Teg Bahadur, as we also celebrating their 400th Gurpurab in 2021 who was born in the walled city of Amritsar. 

Through this petition, we request the Indian Government to make best efforts for the establishment of AIIMS in Amritsar. But we also urge Government of Punjab to send the draft proposal for AIIMS in Amritsar to the Union Government. 

AIIMS is the need of Amritsar, It will boost health facilities in the entire Amritsar/Border Region of Punjab. Currently, people of this region are forced to travel Other Cities for treatment & healthcare related issues. AIIMS in Amritsar will prove beneficial for all.
