Aid survivors of contaminated artificial tears

Aid survivors of contaminated artificial tears
The Issue
Artificial tears, a commonly used eye lubricant, have been found to cause severe harm to numerous individuals across the United States. As someone deeply affected by this crisis, I want to bring attention to the victims' plight and urge for immediate action to rectify this situation.
In the year 2023, approximately 60 to 70 cases were reported nationwide, highlighting the devastating impacts of this contaminated over-the-counter product. Most victims experienced severe irritation in their eyes, but the consequences were even more dire for others. Many suffered from distressing symptoms such as high fever and flu-like conditions, resulting in tragic outcomes including several deaths, loss of vision, and, in many cases, total blindness.
According to records from reputable sources such as the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), this product was subject to an urgent recall, reflecting the gravity of its threats to consumer health and safety. While withdrawal from the markets was a necessary step, it is insufficient for those who have already suffered significant harm.
We call upon the U.S. Congress to recognize the urgent need for assistance and compensation for survivors and their families, as many are grappling with not only the physical and emotional repercussions but also overwhelming financial burdens. The victims deserve justice, medical support, and financial aid to help them rebuild their lives.
By signing this petition, you are endorsing a crucial resolution seeking such assistance and advocating for comprehensive investigation and regulation to prevent future occurrences. Your signature can make an indispensable contribution to ensuring that survivors receive the urgent help they need. Please stand with us and support this cause.

Key takeaways:
The FDA has recalled Delsam Pharma and EzriCare Artificial Tears, having been linked to 80+ infections nationwide — resulting in at least four (4) deaths and four (4) individuals needing eye removals.
Recall reasons include possible bacterial contamination, drug-resistant Pseudomonas Aeruginosa (CRPA) presence, and an ongoing CDC investigation into the manufacturing process.
Individuals who suffered from vision loss, infections, or other health issues after using these products may be eligible to file an EzriCare Lawsuit Claim.
Most Recent Updates:
The FDA investigation linked EzriCare Artificial Tears to a multistate outbreak of drug-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections, affecting 81 individuals across 18 states.
Scientists utilized Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) to trace the infections back to a common source, finding that the bacterial strains in patients were closely related.
The outbreak has led to several lawsuits against EzriCare and Delsam Pharma due to severe health complications, including permanent vision loss, surgical removal of eyeballs, and four deaths, with the CDC advising against the use of the contaminated eye drops.
