After-Hours Healthcare in Jindabyne and Improve Paediatric Services at Cooma Hospital

The issue

To the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of NSW Parliament,

As a community member of Jindabyne I am concerned about access our community has to timely and adequate healthcare services. Living in a growing and outdoor sporting community like ours, it is terrifying not being able to immediately access emergency health services, especially when it involves our children. I echo the same feelings of other residents in Jindabyne- we don't want to be left in a lurch during an emergency. We need a robust system that ensures quick and efficient healthcare delivery round the clock.

Jindabyne, like other rural areas in New South Wales, can greatly benefit from enhanced healthcare services. Many of us have experienced the fear of calling an ambulance and facing uncertainty about when help will arrive due to the large area our local services cover. Studies have proven that access to immediate care in emergencies can be life-saving. We urgently need some form of after hours, but ideally 24 hour healthcare services in Jindabyne and increased ambulance coverage in our region. In addition, paediatric services at Cooma Hospital should be expanded to ensure our children receive the best care possible locally.

Our community is growing, as outlined in the Special Activation Plan (SAP), and it is vital to adequately invest in healthcare systems to support this growth. The stakes are high- it's about the health and well-being of our community and visitors. Let us not compromise where it matters the most. Healthcare is a basic right, and it's time we had after hours services and expanded paediatric facilities at hand.

Please sign this petition and join in urging our local members to act promptly. Together, we can make a difference and provide a safer, healthier future for all residents of Jindabyne.
