WE HAVE A RIGHT TO A REFUND: URGE AFRONATION TO REFUND ITS CUSTOMERS
The Issue
You Have a legal right to a refund!
Afronation has cancelled and postponsed this years event to 2021 on a new set of dates. Not only are they refusing people refunds but they are forcing people to re-sell their own ticket if they can not attend in 2021.
When people bought their ticket, they knew they would be able to attend and paid for that date. Even if you bought refund protection it no longer applies to their ticket.
While no one could've expected Covid-19, this refusal to refund people their money is irresponsible. Expecting consumers to have the responsibility re-sell their own ticket within 4 months time ( the deadline to re-sell is September 2020) or have no possibility of getting their money back is daylight robbery. Afronation are also now claiming that tickets sold in the U.K are being subject to Portaguese law. The festival is now on a completey new set of dates that are within term time. So if you are a student, a parent or in a placement at this time you have no choice. Even if you do not fit into any of these catergories, we don't even know what life will look like at the end of this year let alone July 2021.
Adesegun Adeosun Jr, aka SMADE you started a great event and your community have supported you, like all business' you have risks and unfortunatley a risk to your business has come into fruition. This is not on your supporters to pay. The same people who made all your other events and the first Afronation festival successful .The actions the Afronation brand has taken since the start of the virus are ruining its reputation and has completely removed any trust the community has in you or your events. Make it right and give people the option for a refund should they want it.
Glastonbury and other major events have been postponed and ticket holders unable to make the new dates will be refunded
Additionally the terms and conditions on Ticket Arena, another official outlet of Afro Nation tickets, states on its website that if an event is rescheduled ‘you will be entitled to attend the new date or you will be offered a refund for the full face value’ but ‘booking and delivery fees are non refundable’.
HOWEVER, NOW THEY ARE CHANGING THEIR STANCE
Our Consumer Rights are as follows:
If an event you have tickets for is postponed, hold on to those tickets until a new date is announced. If you’re unable to attend the rescheduled date, you can claim a refund of the ticket’s face-value price. But again, it’s unlikely you’ll get the delivery costs or booking fees back. Again, you’ll have fewer protections if you purchased tickets from a secondary ticket seller, such as Viagogo or StubHub. Check the terms and conditions on its website, as some companies offer guarantees or other protections.
