The African Union invited the Coalition to attend the High-Level Side Event held in conjunction with the 70th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women in New York City on 17 March 2026. 

I had the privilege of attending this meeting and making a statement on behalf of the Coalition and all those who have signed the Petition to end the widespread violence against women and girls in Africa.

The African Union expressed appreciation for the Petition and urged us to continue our efforts to support the Convention by getting more signatures this year.
