The Petition was circulated to all African Union countries before the Summit that was held in February. 

Equatorial Guinea became the 8th country to sign the Convention. 

The Petition has been updated to commend Equatorial Guinea for its commitment to end violence against women and girls in Africa and to urge the remaining African countries to sign the Convention no later that the second anniversary of the adoption of the Convention on 16 February 2027.
