On Saturday, May 28, 2022, the Peshawar Police in Tehkal arrested four Afghan musicians who had crossed Torkham after Kabul's fall. They've their passports, a manual token from UNHCR (Peshawar), and their data is already submitted to the Culture department. Police have registered an FIR under the "14 Foreigners Act - 1946"; the court is going to deport them.
There are several cases on the record the Taliban have humiliated, tortured, and even killed the artists. If these artists are deported, their lives will be at risk.
Human rights commission of Pakistan in a statement has argued,
....."We urge the #ForeignOffice and #UNHCR to take up their case and issue them the documents needed to remain in Pakistan."
We appeal to all the peace-loving global community to raise their voices for Afghan Musicians arrested in Pakistan.
