Affordable Animal Services In Norfolk County

Affordable Animal Services In Norfolk County
Why this petition matters

Norfolk County is facing an animal crisis and overpopulation. Purrfect Companions is experiencing a 75% increase in requests for assistance with strays as well as owned pets, resulting in animals getting dumped outdoors or left behind. Norfolk County is in dire need of an affordable vet clinic as well as TNR clinics to deal with the overwhelming animals at large. If an animal dies from rabies, parvovirus or panleukopenia, the disease can thrive outside the host for a period of time, thus putting our community and other animals at risk.
In 2016, Norfolk County was named the feral cat capital of Canada, (noted in an article published by an Avian Ecologist, University of Guelph). Six years later, the problem has escalated, rescue organizations are struggling to manage the out of control population. During the pandemic, it was reported that an additional 900,000 Canadians acquired a new pet.
We are requesting that Norfolk County assist with providing affordable Animal Services to ALL ANIMALS IN NEED
