Advocate for the Release of a Reformed Inmate After 24 Years of Incarceration
The Issue
My father has spent over 24 years within the cold, concrete confines of the American penal system. He has spent decades lost in a system that is slow to recognize change and reformation. In that time, my dad has made unparalleled personal growth; taking advantage of educational opportunities and behavioral rehabilitation programs offered within the system, he has transformed his life despite his circumstances.
It is shocking when you consider these statistics: According to the US Bureau of Justice Statistics, five out of six state prisoners were arrested at least once during the nine years after their release. Yet my father, confined for 24 years, presents a compelling case of effective reform achieved without liberty.
He now seeks a second chance, an opportunity to prove that he is more than his past mistakes. To hold him any longer is not justice, but a refusal to acknowledge the power of change and personal growth.
Just as our society believes in the power of redemption, we also must advocate for a judicial system that recognizes one's ability to change. It's time to support my father's release and the release of all others who have truly changed during their incarceration.
Support us now, sign this petition, and join us in fighting for justice, redemption, and a second chance for my father.
