I will never forget the day when I saw a turtle, a beautiful creature of nature, confusing a plastic bag for a jellyfish. The sight was heartbreaking and it is an image that has stayed with me. Our beaches in Hawaii are becoming increasingly polluted with plastic waste, posing serious threats to our marine life and ecosystem.

Every year, millions of marine animals die due to plastic pollution. Turtles are particularly affected as they often mistake floating plastic bags for jellyfish and ingest them.
