I have personally experienced the benefits that skateparks can bring to communities. They provide a space that encourages healthy lifestyles and physical fitness. They can help develop motor skills and confidence, promote risk management, resiliency, encourage creativity, improve focus, and build social connections that teach respect and sportsmanship.

However, the Sycamore community lacks such a facility - an outdoor skatepark where our youth could engage in these beneficial activities. This is not just about skating; it's about providing opportunities for personal growth while promoting community engagement.

According to the Tony Hawk Foundation (2019), communities with skateparks see reductions in youth crime rates as well as improvements in overall health due to increased physical activity. In fact, cities like Portland have seen significant positive impacts since implementing their own public skateparks.

Our goal is simple: prove there is enough interest within our community to warrant the construction of an outdoor skatepark through our park district.
