The Voice was voted down. So what now?

Australians voted no — but that doesn't mean the conversation is over. If anything, it makes this petition more urgent. Indigenous communities across Australia are still here, still fighting, and still waiting for a government that will actually show up for them. The referendum result wasn't a verdict on whether Indigenous rights matter. It was a failure of political will — and we can't let it be the end of the story.

Indigenous communities have long advocated for sovereignty, treaty, and truth-telling. Despite decades of promises, they continue to face systemic barriers to having their voices heard and rights respected. With the Voice off the table, treaty is now the most viable path forward — and it needs public pressure behind it.

Many existing agreements have never been fully enacted or respected, leaving Indigenous peoples without the recognition they deserve. This isn't ancient history. It's happening now, in our country, on stolen land that was never ceded.

We're calling on the Australian government to commit to a national treaty framework — one where Indigenous leaders and communities shape the process, not just participate in it. We're calling for a permanent independent body to oversee treaty implementation and hold governments accountable. And we're calling for truth-telling to be embedded in that process, because you can't build a fair future on an honest past that's never been acknowledged.

The no vote happened. Now we move. Sign this petition and tell the government that Indigenous justice isn't optional — it's overdue.
