The Issue

Hi my name is Charle, Living with cystic fibrosis and other respiratory conditions is life altering, not just for those of us who are affected, but also for the families and caregivers who support us every day. I've struggled with it for years, and I've seen firsthand how crucial monitoring air quality can be for managing and reducing our symptoms. This is not merely an inconvenience; it’s a matter of life and death for many people who suffer chronically from lung conditions.

Carbon dioxide (CO2) levels in our homes can significantly impact our health, especially for those with compromised respiratory systems. Ensuring that the air we breathe is safe is not just a luxury, it’s a necessity. In the absence of consistent monitoring, we are left vulnerable to the dangers of high CO2 concentrations, which can exacerbate our conditions, leading to severe health consequences.

Studies have shown that excessive indoor CO2 levels are linked to reduced cognitive function and serious respiratory issues. It was found that CO2 levels in many households often exceed healthy limits, primarily due to inadequate ventilation. This fact is alarming for anyone but especially dangerous for us living with conditions that already compromise our lung function.

There is an urgent need for regulatory measures that require the use of CO2 monitoring devices in homes, particularly for individuals with respiratory conditions. These devices are readily available, yet not everyone knows of their necessity or how to access them. By advocating for CO2 monitoring, we can educate the public, potentially improve many lives, and reduce life-threatening situations.

This petition calls on health officials, policymakers, and manufacturers to subsidize and promote these vital monitoring tools and ensure they are accessible to all. Let’s work together to ensure that everyone, especially those with conditions like cystic fibrosis, has the ability to monitor their home air quality effectively. Supporting this petition is a step towards safer homes and a healthier future. Please sign and share this petition to help transform this vital advocacy into action.
