Advocate for Green Card Rights for International Students in the USA

Advocate for Green Card Rights for International Students in the USA
The Issue
My family member finished a degree in Computer Engineering in the USA, benefiting from the Optional Practical Training (OPT) program, and contributed to the economy by paying taxes. After following the advice of a lawyer to leave for a change of status, the consulate denied them re-entry, making it impossible for them to finish their second degree with one year left. This isn't just our family's story; it's a tale shared by countless international students who commit years to studying in the USA.
According to the U.S. Department of State, more than a million international students were studying in America in 2020. Each of these students, just like my family member, adds to the cultural and intellectual diversity of their institutions and contributes significantly to the economy. Yet, many, post-graduation, face an uncertain future due to the delay in changing the status of their visa or completely getting denied, despite fulfilling all requirements.
The situation is clearly unjust. We therefore urge the US government to uphold the proposition put forth by former President Trump: Green Card status should be granted to students who have completed their education in the USA. This will not only secure the futures of these scholars but also allow them to continue contributing to the U.S. As stipulated in the proposal, we also urge for a policy revision to allow those who've had to leave due to Visa issues to reapply once they meet the necessary criteria.
Join this campaign; sign the petition to secure the rights of international students and to ensure a fair process for the attainment of Green Card status.
