I am personally connected to this cause as I have a sister who, like Nicholas Godejohn, is mentally ill but highly intelligent, yet she too can be easily manipulated by people claiming to love her, or need her protection. This is why I am calling for justice and equal treatment for Nicholas, who was manipulated into committing a crime for mastermind of a murder Gypsy Rose Blanchard.

Gypsy Rose masterminded the murder of her own mother and used lies about money, family promises, and sex to manipulate Nicholas into carrying out the act. Despite being the mastermind behind this crime, she has been granted freedom while Nicholas remains incarcerated.

Nicholas suffers from mental illness which made him susceptible to manipulation. He committed this act out of love and under the impression that he was protecting Gypsy Rose. It is unjust that he remains in prison while she walks free.

According to data from Mental Health America (2019), individuals with mental health conditions are often victims of manipulation due to their vulnerability. This case clearly exemplifies such an instance.

We urge you to consider these facts when reflecting on the fairness of our justice system in dealing with cases involving individuals with mental health issues like Nicholas Godejohn's case.
