I've seen firsthand the devastating impact that human rights abuses can have on individuals and communities. Instances of discrimination, violence, and oppression that deny people their basic rights and dignity are all too common. Survivors of abuse share their stories, yet the frustration is palpable as these injustices persist in our world. This issue is deeply personal to me as a passionate advocate for justice and equality.

In Zamboanga City, Philippines, we need meaningful change to address these abuses by advocating for an end to systemic discrimination, protection of civil liberties, accountability for police brutality, abolition of torture and inhumane treatment. We must also ensure the protection of refugee and migrant rights while empowering marginalized communities.

The Philippines ranks 110th out of 162 countries on the Human Freedom Index (Cato Institute). This reflects a dire need for reform across multiple areas including rule of law, security & safety - all crucial aspects related to human rights.
