Advocate for Clemency for Alexander Santiesteban, A Non-Violent Cannabis Offender

Advocate for Clemency for Alexander Santiesteban, A Non-Violent Cannabis Offender
The Issue
In my line of work in the cannabis industry, it has become abundantly clear that the laws surrounding cannabis are imprecise and unevenly applied. It is particularly unjust to see individuals punished for offenses relating to a substance that is now a multi-billion-dollar industry. One such individual is Alexander Santiesteban.
Alexander Santiesteban is currently serving time for a non-violent marijuana-related offense. Despite the significant shifts in marijuana's legal status in recent years including its legalization in various US states, Alexander remains incarcerated. This is a sobering contradiction that signals a desperate need for change in how our Justice System addresses similar cases.
The growing acceptance of cannabis, culminating in legalization actions across the United States, has not translated into pardon for those who were punished under outdated laws. This discrepancy is not simply unjust—it arguably challenges the principles of fairness upon which our society prides itself.
Therefore, we respectfully request the Office of the Pardon Attorney and the U.S. Department of Justice to affirm their commitment to justice and fairness by recommending clemency for Alexander Santiesteban, thereby acknowledging the clear shift in society's perspective on cannabis-related offenses.
Please sign this petition to show your support for justice, fairness, and much-needed reform in our approach to non-violent cannabis offenses. Together, we can make a difference.
