The Issue

"My uniform is made up of pure polyester and only my God and I know what's going on inside my body. It feels like hellfire," states Aslam Noor, a committed public worker. His story is not unique; it's shared by countless workers who wear the polyester uniforms which leave them suffocating under the extreme heat. Polyester, a common material for uniforms, traps heat and moisture, leading to tough working conditions during sweltering heats. For the men and women who dedicate their lives to serving the community, this is an unbearable burden.

Research shows that polyester fabrics are less breathable and can significantly increase the risk of heat-related illnesses such as heat exhaustion and heat stroke. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), heat stress can lead to serious health implications, including cardiovascular complications, which is a risk too high for those who put their lives on the line daily.

There is a clear need for change: breathable, weather-friendly uniforms will not only improve comfort but will also protect the health and well-being of our public workers. There are numerous alternatives available, such as cotton or moisture-wicking performance fabrics, which are proven to provide better comfort and cooling to those in high-stress, high-temperature environments.

By transitioning to more suitable uniform materials, public service departments could enhance the efficiency and health of their workers. It's crucial for authorities to listen and respond with urgency to the voices of these workers who continue to endure the daily struggles of their harsh uniform conditions.

This petition urges the relevant authorities to conduct a comprehensive review of current uniform materials and prioritize the procurement of more breathable, protective options that safeguard the health of those in service. Our workers deserve uniforms that honor their commitment by ensuring their comfort and safety.

Join us in this call for a meaningful and necessary change: sign this petition and support our public workers in their appeal for breathable, weather-friendly uniforms. Your signature matters; help us make a difference today.
