I am a resident of General Mariano Alvarez, Cavite, Philippines. Every day, I witness the recurring problem of waste management in our community. Our streets are littered with trash and our rivers polluted with waste materials. This is not just an eyesore but also poses serious health and environmental risks.

According to the World Bank's 2018 report on Solid Waste Management, the Philippines generates around 40 thousand tons of waste per day - that's about 14 million tons annually! And sadly, only about 28% of this is recycled or composted.

Our town should not contribute to this alarming statistic any longer. We need to advocate for a waste-free environment now more than ever. It starts with us - each household reducing their waste production and promoting recycling practices.

We call upon the local government officials of General Mariano Alvarez to implement stricter regulations on proper garbage disposal and encourage recycling programs within our community. Let us work together towards a cleaner, healthier environment for ourselves and future generations.
