We respectfully ask that you deny a pardon to petitioner Mark Wahlberg. In 1988, Wahlberg beat one man with a 5-foot-long stick until he was unconscious; another man lost sight in one eye as a result of an unprovoked assault by Wahlberg. We applaud the petitioner for the positive changes he has made since he committed these crimes. However, this petition is not motivated by repentance. Without a pardon, Wahlberg cannot obtain a concessionaire's license in California, impeding his ability to expand his restaurant chain. The petition is little more than a cynical ploy by a wealthy man with his eye on new investment opportunities. Please: no pardon for Wahlberg.
