Adress the Armenian genocide

The Issue

Growing up as an Armenian, it is deeply distressing to learn about the severe loss and suffering our people have endured, particularly during the Armenian Genocide. This tragic chapter of history remains inadequately addressed on the global stage. Despite the vast numbers who perished, their stories are often overshadowed and, at times, deliberately overlooked. It's disheartening and unacceptable that such a significant historical atrocity remains largely unrecognised and unaddressed by many nations even today. The whole world knows about it, yet there is still little that has happened.

The ongoing attacks on Artsakh further compound this sense of neglect and urgency. These acts of aggression are not just isolated incidents but are part of a broader historical and political context that continues to affect Armenians worldwide. Yet, the global response remains muted, leaving Armenians feeling unsupported and abandoned by the international community.

It's crucial to acknowledge not only the historical significance of the Armenian Genocide but also to recognise its ongoing impact on descendants today. This acknowledgment is not merely a matter of rectifying past wrongs; it is a requisite step towards ensuring justice and promoting peace and reconciliation in regions still facing hostilities related to this unresolved history.

I urge world leaders, international organisations, and communities to act decisively to officially recognise the Armenian Genocide. Recognition is the first step towards ensuring that history does not repeat itself, that the suffering of millions is not forgotten, and that current and future generations can live in a world where such atrocities are universally condemned and prevented.

Please join me in ensuring the Armenian Genocide receives the attention it deserves by signing this petition. A collective voice can push for necessary recognition and action.
