I'm tired of seeing the four nations constituting the United Kingdom each having its own anthem during sports events, but not England. Despite being the country with the largest population in the UK, we do not have our own anthem. Instead, we use the anthem that represents the whole of the UK: "God Save the King". There's a disconnect here that needs to be addressed. Our proposal is to use "Jerusalem", a hymn considered as an unofficial English anthem that is deeply rooted in the country dating back to 1808. This change wouldn't be unprecedented. During the 2010 Commonwealth Games, the English team used "Jerusalem" not "God Save the Queen." It resonates deeper, embodying England's unique heritage and identity. We are not asking to displace "God Save the Queen" in its entirety, we simply wish to have "Jerusalem" played when English sports teams compete. It's about identity and national pride.
