When we look at the confederate flag, we see racism.  Not southern pride.  The confederate flag is misinterpreted as the confederate flag.  It is actually the battle flag of the army of Northern Virginia.  There would really be no reason to fly the flag if you weren't from northern Virginia or had ancestors in that army.  So why would we fly a flag that most people see as racist?  We live in the NORTH.  The flag to us (referring to the north) shows racism, shows treason, and shows a very dark history in our country.  As a friend of many persons of color, I know that it is seen as very racist and offensive in their eyes.  So please sign this petition so that we can assure our schools are hatred-free.
