Dress codes are very biased toward girls and centers around the idea that girls should cover up their bodies so that they don’t distract the boys. Establishing that idea at such an early age not only writes off assault, but it creates a stigma of victim shaming later in the future. 
The idea that it’s the girls responsibility to cover up so that they don’t get assaulted is absurd. Instead, we need to teach consent rather than forcing our girls into submission. It also create body image issues that will stick with girls for the rest of their lives.
