The Five Points Landing park opened in 2024 and has been a beautiful addition to the city of Milford. A fun space for local families is the new Splash Pad, however, the running hours of the splash pad are impractical for the ultimate end user of the splash pad, the children and parents of Milford and surrounding areas. 

This petition was created to show the City of Milford that the splash pad hours need to be adjusted in order to maximize the use of the splash pad while continuing to keep water conservation in mind. The builders of the splash pad were smart to add a motion activated sensor in order for the water jets to only run when the splash pad was, in fact, in use. This sensor is key for water conservation. Children and parents are the intended end use of the splash pad but the current operating hours of the splash pad need adjustment. In its current state, the posted operating hours are: daily from 11am-4pm, 6pm-7pm, 8:30-10pm. During the summer, 3pm-7pm are typically some of the hottest hours and when most families would be able to use the splash pad (I.e. after work, school, etc). Also, many young children wake up early and could use a fun early morning activity, like enjoying the splash pad before the hottest hours of the day begin.  

These adjusted hours and the motion sensor would allow use but can conserve water if the splash pad is not in use.

Proposed new hours:

Daily: *9:30am- 7pm, 9-10pm (light show)

*keep in mind the water would only be running at these times if the sensor is activated
