The Issue

Brentwood is experiencing rapid development, and with it, an increased volume of traffic on our roads. This surge is not without its challenges, particularly concerning the safety of our residents. Our current infrastructure, while once adequate, is now struggling to keep up with the demands of a growing community, leaving us vulnerable to the repercussions of insufficient traffic management and public safety measures.

We need to acknowledge the legitimate concerns from residents across various neighborhoods in Brentwood about speeding, the inadequacy of stop signs and traffic lights, and widespread traffic safety issues. These are not isolated incidents; they are symptoms of a larger problem that, if unaddressed, could have dire consequences for our community. Families should not have to worry about their children safely crossing the street or fear the increasing risk of traffic accidents.

An actionable step forward is to review and update our current traffic maps to incorporate additional public safety measures. This includes the strategic placement of more stop signs and traffic lights, establishing clearer signage to guide drivers, and implementing traffic calming measures to reduce speeding. These efforts will not only alleviate immediate traffic concerns but also ensure a safer, more navigable community environment.

Furthermore, we propose engaging with Brentwood City Council and Planning/Development  Commissions in open discussions where the community can voice their concerns and suggestions directly. Public forums will serve as an essential platform to harness the collective insights of Brentwood's residents, promoting a collaborative approach to resolving traffic and safety issues.

Moreover, deploying traffic studies and safety assessments by qualified professionals can provide us with data-driven insights to implement the most effective solutions, tailored specifically to our community's needs. We believe that, through collective action and thoughtful planning, we can foster a safer Brentwood for everyone.

We call upon local authorities to prioritize these initiatives as a matter of urgency. By signing this petition, you are advocating for a better, safer Brentwood that meets the needs of today and anticipates the challenges of tomorrow. Let us unite to create a community where safety and efficiency on our roads are not just aspirations but reality. Please sign this petition to support improved traffic management and public safety initiatives in Brentwood.
