Address the Lack of Classrooms and Facilities in Public Schools in the Philippines

Address the Lack of Classrooms and Facilities in Public Schools in the Philippines
The Issue
Classrooms serve as our second home for us learners. With our teachers carefully guiding us to grow, with our friends who used to be just strangers but now never failed to fill us with great laughter and true joy, the four corners of our classrooms have now been imprinted to our minds as a core memory. However, some students somewhere in the Philippines may not view their classrooms as a fun place to be because of different deficiencies.
We, two of the students of San Jose-Litex Senior High School, are writing this petition to address our observed recent issue regarding the inadequate classrooms and facilities in public schools. We want to address the lack of proper infrastructures that hinders the learners' efficiency in learning due to difficulties in focusing and concentration.
As we observe, some of the public school classrooms are overcrowded, not just in the province of Laguna (the photo that can be seen above), but in different parts of the Philippines, especially in rural places, with students sharing desks, sitting on the floor, or making sketchy places as their classrooms just to execute education. To add to that, essential facilities such as functional libraries, laboratories, and restrooms are also insufficient. These factors may affect both the teachers and students.
The insufficiency of classrooms and facilities may cause the following:
1. Difficulty in teaching and learning due to environmental noises and being in a state of crowded.
2. Limited learning scope because of absence in science and computer laboratories and libraries.
3. Incompetence of the school in extracurricular activities such as sports, journalism, arts, etc.
4. Health risks due to poor sanitation and possible transmission of infectious diseases.
With those impacts being stated, we are calling for the Department of Education, local government officials, other related sectors, and the concerned and privileged citizens of the Philippines to take immediate action regarding the issue.
The following may be the actions in order to empower the education system in the country:
1. Allocate sufficient budget for the structure of extension buildings with a number of classrooms that can accommodate all students.
2. Enhance existing and establish different facilities to be opened for both learners and teachers for ensuring better interaction and learning. The delivery of credible learning materials, training equipment, and laboratory equipment is included.
3. Hiring of guidance counselors to manage and develop good values.
4. Sponsor and allocate funds for extracurricular activities and school organizations with their own headquarters.
Aesthetically pleasant, comfortable, secure, fun, healthy, and accessible for everyone, classrooms are some of the change that we truly desire. Us, advocates for the addressing of the lack of classrooms and facilities in public schools in our beloved country, together with its concerned citizens and the support of the government, we will rise and achieve our long-awaited triumph.
Your support and signatures will be much appreciated!
