I am a resident of Cape Cod, living amidst the beauty and charm that our region is known for. Yet, like many others, I find myself struggling with an issue that threatens to overshadow this charm - affordable housing. It's not just my story; it's the story of thousands of residents in Barnstable County.

The lack of affordable housing in Cape Cod has reached alarming proportions. According to a report by Housing Assistance Corporation (HAC), nearly 10,000 year-round homes are needed to meet current demand. This shortage has led to skyrocketing rental and home prices that are far beyond what most local incomes can support.

This situation is not sustainable or fair for those who contribute so much to our community yet struggle daily with housing insecurity. We need urgent action from our local authorities and state representatives to address this crisis.

We call on them to prioritize affordable housing initiatives in their policy agendas, invest more resources into creating low-cost housing options, and implement regulations that will prevent further escalation of home prices.

Soy residente de Cape Cod y vivo en medio de la belleza y el encanto por los que nuestra región es conocida. Sin embargo, como muchos otros, me encuentro luchando con un problema que amenaza con eclipsar este encanto: la vivienda asequible. No es sólo mi historia; es la historia de miles de residentes del condado de Barnstable.

La falta de viviendas asequibles en Cape Cod ha alcanzado proporciones alarmantes.
