Address Injustice in Family Court Procedures

The Issue

I'm a father to an almost 4-year-old little girl who has been let down by our family court system. Despite evidence of abuse and alienation by her mother, the court has failed to intervene effectively, allowing more time to be unjustly taken away from her loving father. Her childhood is being sacrificed in the pursuit of financial gain.

This is not just my child’s story—it is the story of many children and families caught in the faulty system of family courts. There is an urgent need to raise awareness about this issue. Studies have shown that as many as 58,000 children a year are ordered by family courts into unsupervised contact with physically or sexually abusive parents following divorce or separation (Leadership Council on Child Abuse & Interpersonal Violence, 2008).

Parents hire attorneys to represent their interests within this system and yet too often, these attorneys seem to work in tandem with the court rather than for their clients. This compromises the ethical obligation attorneys have to their clients and the due process all individuals should be granted.

We are calling for a comprehensive review and overhaul of family court procedures. There is a dire need for increased transparency and accountability to ensure that decisions are made in the best interest of the children involved. The system needs change.

Help us protect our children. Please sign this petition to encourage a thorough review of current family court practices. Your signature could be the one that makes the difference.
