Address Illegal Actions and Health Hazards at Mitegenahalli Dumping Yard Urgently

The Issue

Garbage being burnt at night

I, a resident residing close to the Mitegenahalli Dumping Yard, am creating this urgent plea due to the mounting health issues faced by hundreds of people living in societies and homes nearby. The source of our concerns and distress traces back to the rampant garbage dumping, illegal garbage burning, encroachment, and criminal activities around the yard.

The toxic fumes stemming from the illegal burning, paired with leachate seeping into the groundwater, have reportedly caused serious health issues for area residents. In addition to respiratory problems, constant exposure to such pollutants can significantly increase the risk of developing more concealed but potentially deadly diseases, such as cancer. It is not just us humans who suffer; the local fauna is equally, if not more, impacted by these hazards. The stench is unbearable and the air quality is dangerous for everyone. It’s like living inside a gutter with toxic fumes being pumped in every day with no respite.

Furthermore, the area has become a hotspot for daylight robberies and other unsafe activities, perpetrated mostly by illegal immigrants. This has exacerbated an already precarious situation, posing additional security threats to local residents, and has disrupted our sense of peace and safety, further compromising our quality of life.

We are appealing to the concerned authorities to guarantee the immediate and comprehensive addressing of illegal activities at the Mitegenahalli Dumping Yard. We urge them to implement stricter regulations and penalties for those who defy them, conduct routine inspections, increase local security, and invest in long-term measures to ensure the health and wellbeing of residents.

In this dire situation, every signature counts. Lend your support by signing this petition to help end these daily hardships and restore peace and tranquility to our community.
