Address Flint's Stray Pet Crisis Now!

The Issue

Edit/Update:We are not asking for anything but signatures. Anything you want to give please send to your chosen Animal Rescue and not via this petition. I'm sorry for any confusion.

I am deeply saddened to witness the suffering of countless stray animals in our city. It breaks my heart to see these innocent creatures struggling to survive on the streets, facing hunger, disease, and neglect. It is time for us to come together as a community and urge the Genesee county commissioners office to take immediate action in addressing this pressing issue.

Flint's stray pet population has reached alarming levels, causing immense harm not only to these animals but also posing risks to public health and safety. The following facts highlight the urgency of this matter:

1. According to recent estimates from local animal welfare organizations, there are over 10,000 stray cats and dogs roaming our streets.

2. The lack of proper care for these animals leads to increased incidents of rabies outbreaks and other diseases that can spread among both humans and pets.

3. Stray animals often become victims of traffic accidents or suffer from injuries due to fights with other strays or cruel treatment by humans.

4. The financial burden on taxpayers is significant as public resources are strained due to increased animal control efforts and healthcare costs associated with treating injured or diseased strays.

It is evident that we cannot turn a blind eye any longer; we must act swiftly before more lives are lost or ruined by this crisis.

Therefore, I urge you all fellow residents who share my concern for these voiceless beings - sign this petition demanding that the Genesee county commissioners office take immediate steps towards addressing Flint's stray pet population crisis:

1. Allocate additional funding towards spaying/neutering programs aimed at reducing the number of stray animals in our city.

2. Implement comprehensive education campaigns focused on responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spaying/neutering, microchipping and providing proper care.

3. Collaborate with local animal welfare organizations to establish low-cost veterinary clinics and shelters to provide necessary care for stray animals.

4. Strengthen enforcement of existing animal control laws and regulations to ensure the safety and well-being of both pets and residents.

5.Enact strict breeder licensing requirements with penalties and fines for non-compliance.

By signing this petition, we are not only advocating for the welfare of these innocent animals but also striving towards creating a safer, healthier community for all residents of Flint.

Together, let's make our voices heard! Let's demand immediate action from our county commissioners office to address Flint's stray pet population crisis!

Thank you for your support in making a difference in the lives of these vulnerable creatures who deserve love, compassion, and a chance at a better life.
