Address and change the drop off procedure at Twelve Corners Middle School

Address and change the drop off procedure at Twelve Corners Middle School
The Issue
I'm a concerned parent at Twelve Corners Middle School, and every morning, as I drop off my child, I am filled with an overwhelming sense of worry. The current drop-off procedure isn't just inconvenient; it's dangerous. It's only a matter of time before a serious accident occurs, endangering the safety of our children. This sentiment is shared by many parents and teachers within our community.
Currently, during the morning rush hour, the drop-off area becomes a chaotic zone, with cars jostling for position and pedestrians struggling to navigate safely. Children are forced to weave through a maze of automobiles just to reach the school's entrance. This inappropriate setup increases the likelihood of collisions or mishaps, which could lead to severe injuries. No parent should have to fear for their child's safety simply because of poorly managed traffic flow at a school.
Several stakeholders have raised this issue during PTA meetings, but thus far, no effective changes have been implemented. We all agree that the existing system is flawed and presents an imminent risk to our children. It is crucial for the school administration to prioritize this matter and work towards a safer solution.
A proposed reform to the drop-off system could include designated lanes for school buses and parent vehicles, improving signage and instructions for drivers and pedestrians, and stationing staff or volunteers to guide traffic during peak hours. Other schools have successfully implemented such measures with positive results, significantly reducing potential accidents.
For the safety of our children and peace of mind for parents, it is imperative that the Twelve Corners Middle School administration reviews and overhauls the current drop-off procedure. Let's advocate for a safer start to the school day by supporting this petition. Please sign and share this petition to prompt immediate action on this critical safety issue.
