Our village, a place of beauty and community, is marred by a pressing concern that affects us all—safety on our roads. Events over the years have highlighted a problem that many of us have been aware of for far too long. Despite having four schools in our village, there is only a single pedestrian crossing, placing our children, parents, and the elderly in unnecessary danger daily.

This lack of adequate pedestrian crossings in our village has resulted in accidents and near misses, due to a number of reasons including speeding. With a large number of schoolchildren walking these streets, it is imperative that we act swiftly to prevent any further accidents. 

Our proposal is simple yet effective: install additional pedestrian crossings in key areas around the schools and major pedestrian routes. This isn't just about convenience—it's a critical safety measure that will protect everyone living and working in the village.

The statistics are clear: properly placed pedestrian crossings dramatically reduce the risk of accidents. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, pedestrian crosswalks can reduce traffic-related pedestrian injuries by up to 50%. It’s time for our village to prioritize safety, not only for those who reside here but for visitors and schoolchildren who contribute to our vibrant community life.
