For years Kurds have been looking to have any kind of representation. We are the largest nation (50 million!) without a country and have been fighting for freedom for hundreds of years. The first easy step is to have our flag on our phones. As a kurd myself, I want to be able to identify myself through emojis like everyone else has the privilege to do so. We may not be an independent state (yet) but we still deserve acknowledgement and representation! Flags do not only represent countries for ex. There is a pride flag, but the LGBTQ+ community is not a country. Therefore we deserve the same respect to have a Kurdish flag emoji! I’m calling out the UNICODE CONSORTIUM and Apple to add the Kurdish Flag into the emoji keyboard!
