My sister was the victim of a tragic accident at the intersection of El Redondo and Baxter Drive my Merino Park—an area notorious for its dangerous lack of traffic control measures. Currently, she is in critical condition, and the memory of this incident has left my family and the community devastated. We can’t let more families experience such heartbreak due to preventable accidents.
Several cars speed, pass school bus stop signs and this needs to end! We have several kids walk to their local school bus. It can be anyone’s child.
The intersection at El Redondo and Baxter Drive has seen countless near-misses and accidents with other kids! with drivers often failing to yield or stop safely. According to local traffic reports, there have been numerous incidents in the past year, many of which could have been avoided with proper signage and traffic regulation.
Stop signs are a proven method to enhance traffic safety. They compel drivers to slow down and proceed with caution, significantly reducing the risk of collisions at intersections. Implementing stop signs at this intersection will not only ensure the safety of pedestrians and cyclists but also create a safer driving environment for all.
By installing stop signs, we will take a significant step towards protecting our community and preventing future accidents. I urge local authorities and community members to recognize the importance of this petition and act swiftly to install these life-saving measures at El Redondo and Baxter Drive.
Please join me in advocating for a safer neighborhood. Your support could save lives. Sign this petition and help us make El Redondo and Baxter Drive safer for everyone.
