Add speed humps in Magnolia Valley, Pasco County

Add speed humps in Magnolia Valley, Pasco County
The Issue
Magnolia Valley, a serene residential area in Pasco County, is currently facing a significant road safety issue due to increasing vehicle speeds on our streets. The charming roads that once served as peaceful routes for families, children, pedestrians, and cyclists are now becoming a hazard. Our neighborhood, home to numerous families, relies heavily on these roads for everyday activities like walking, running, cycling, and socializing outside.
The lack of speed-controlling measures has resulted in reckless driving and near-miss incidents, particularly near crosswalks, residential driveways, and community parks. We believe that implementing speed humps in strategic locations within Magnolia Valley will reduce vehicle speeds, enhance road safety, and preserve the quality of life in our community. Speed humps are a proven, cost-effective solution to control excessive speeding and have been successfully utilized in similar residential areas.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, traffic-calming measures such as speed humps can reduce traffic speeds by 10-20% and lower the probability of accidents involving vehicles and pedestrians. In a community survey we conducted, 85% of respondents expressed concern over current traffic speeds and supported the addition of speed humps.
Despite being a seemingly small infrastructure investment, the installation of speed humps will significantly increase safety. They act as a visual and physical reminder to drivers to slow down, ensuring our roads are safe for all residents, particularly children and seniors who are most vulnerable to traffic-related hazards.
We urge Pasco County officials to prioritize the well-being of Magnolia Valley's families and take immediate action by installing speed humps within our community. Your signature can make a difference in achieving a safer neighborhood for us all. Please sign this petition to support the implementation of speed humps in Magnolia Valley.
