Add more rain gardens near Franklin Community High School

The Issue

It all starts with a simple act of nature: a storm. As the rain falls, it gathers momentum, picking up pollutants that are eventually deposited into our lakes, rivers, and even storm drains. This runoff then often finds its way into our water pipelines, potentially polluting the very water sources we rely on every day to drink, cook, and wash. Living in the vicinity of Franklin Community High School, I've seen firsthand the impact of such runoff and its potential to affect the water quality in our community.

Rain gardens present a sustainable and effective solution to manage storm water runoff. These gardens are planted with native plants, which not only absorb water but also filter out harmful pollutants. By installing more rain gardens near Franklin Community High School, we can significantly reduce the volume of runoff and improve the quality of our local water sources.

In cities similar to ours, implementing rain gardens has been shown to decrease runoff by up to 30%. This not only protects the environment but also saves on community water treatment costs in the long run.

I urge the Franklin town council and local environmental agencies to consider investing in this promising infrastructure. By doing so, we not only ensure a cleaner local environment but also secure a healthier future for our community.

Sign this petition to advocate for the installation of additional rain gardens in our neighborhood. Let's work together to protect our water and ensure its purity for generations to come.
