The Issue

For years, I’ve used video games to relax after long days at work or school. But controllers just don’t feel right for me. I’ve always preferred keyboard and mouse. When I play for a long time with a controller, my hands and wrists actually start to hurt. Sometimes the pain lasts even after I stop playing. I know a lot of other gamers feel the same way — some because of past injuries, some because of conditions like arthritis or tendonitis, and some just because KBM is more comfortable and natural for them.

This isn’t just about me. It’s about accessibility. There are players who physically can’t use a controller for extended periods, or who rely on alternative input setups that work better with keyboard and mouse. For them, this isn’t a luxury — it’s the difference between being able to play GTA at all or being locked out.

Right now, GTA V on PS5 and Xbox only works with controllers. You can’t use keyboard and mouse, even though most other big games on console let you. Fortnite, Call of Duty, Minecraft, Warframe, Destiny 2, and even games like Rocket League all support KBM on console. PCs have had this option for years, so it’s weird that console players don’t get the same choice, especially for a game as massive as GTA V.

I’m asking Rockstar to add full keyboard and mouse support for GTA V on console, and make sure GTA 6 has it from the start. This would help players who find controllers uncomfortable or inaccessible, and it would also give better control for aiming, movement, and navigation in both single-player and GTA Online. KBM gives more precision for shooting, faster access to menus and chat, and smoother control when driving or flying.

I also know people worry about fairness in online matches. Some controller players are worried KBM users will have an advantage, and some KBM players are worried they’ll be forced to use a controller. The solution is simple: optional input-based matchmaking. This lets players choose to match mostly with others using the same input type. Controller players can stay with controller pools, KBM players can stay with KBM pools, and everyone gets to play the way they want without feeling it’s unfair. Games like Call of Duty and Fortnite already do this successfully on console, and it works.

This isn’t just about preference. It’s about accessibility, player choice, and keeping GTA aligned with the rest of the industry. Other companies already do this on console, and players are happy with it. Rockstar has the technical ability to add this feature — consoles already support keyboard and mouse at the system level, and the game engine on PC already uses KBM. It’s not a new technology, it’s just a feature that’s been missing on console.

Millions of people play GTA on PlayStation and Xbox worldwide. That’s a huge community, and it includes players who rely on keyboard and mouse for accessibility, players who prefer KBM for precision, and players who just want the option to choose. It’s time Rockstar gives us that flexibility.

Adding KBM support to GTA V now would also set a precedent for GTA 6. If Rockstar builds it in from the start for the next game, future players won’t have to wait years or fight for this feature. It would be a standard part of the game, just like it is on PC.

Please sign the petition and help me get this request to Rockstar Games. Every signature shows that this is something the community cares about, and it gives Rockstar a clear signal that keyboard and mouse support on console is something their players want.

Let’s make GTA more inclusive, more accessible, and more flexible for everyone. Sign the petition and share it with other GTA players who might agree.
