Seckinger High School is an Artificial Intelligence themed school that strives to maintain “The Seckinger Standard”. As stated on the website, our principal believes in “the power of collaboration and open communication…” and as a part of this school, we are encouraged to “share ideas, concerns, and aspirations.”

To maintain this “Seckinger Standard”, SKG is equipped with a variety of classes- ranging from sports-related classes (such as Body Sculpting/Team Sports), business and leadership classes (Foundations of Leadership/Marketing Principles), and STEM-based classes (Foundations of AI, Introduction to Mechatronics). As a result of the expansive range of classes offered here, students can begin to truly prepare for their future aspirations, ambitions, and careers. 

One important aspect of Seckinger High School is our AI framework, illustrating the role of Artificial Intelligence in everyday life- mathematical reasoning, creative problem solving, ethics, applied experiences, programming, and data science. 

Despite the various classes offered here, the school does not yet have a deeply AI-rooted social studies class- Introduction to US Intelligence and National Security Studies. This is a class already provided by GCPS- we are asking for it to be implemented here at SKG. It’ll allow students to take a look into world affairs and emerging issues, as well as important Intelligence Agencies (FBI, CIA). National security is a pressing issue, which is relevant even more so now than before, and this class would provide a crucial and deep understanding of this topic. This is an essential class for students looking into the fields of law enforcement, international affairs, political science, and other related fields of study. 

Students have heavily shown interest in this class, and thus it is the duty of Seckinger High School to better equip their students with unforgettable life skills and important knowledge. One specific teacher has stood out with his strong passion for teaching this class- Garrett Shaffer. He is undeniably one of the most, if not the most qualified teachers here at Seckinger to teach this course. 

High school is meant to prepare students for the future- what kind of school would we be if we didn’t cater to students of all interests?

We urge the administration of Seckinger High School to consider this proposal seriously. Let’s ensure that the education and curriculum of this school remains relevant, allowing students to thrive now and in the future.
