Your voice must be heard

Thank you for supporting this petition. It is on the way to the 5000 mark very quickly. It was set up to send a message to 38 degrees, and to the rest of the world, that we will not allow our right to express our wishes via social media to be degraded. It is doing well, but let's not lose momentum. Please consider sharing it again over the weekend - by email or social media, and make sure all your associates know why it matters: It was addressed to 38 degrees manager Adam McNicholas rather than the Executive Director David Babbs, because the variety of reasons Babbs seemed to give for the downing of the petition suggested he was at best confused. What on earth was he doing caving in before, and apologising to Laura Kuenssberg over, a few rude tweets which were not from him and possibly not even on his website? Such odd things seem to happen when powerful establishment figures feel their grip on us is threatened by people-power. We acknowledge that the petition founder found the experience of negative press attention 'scary' and may well have been anxious enough to want to hide away but we feel the situation was badly handled and require that 38 degrees staff find a better way of dealing with controversy. Their action has limited the size and power of the message carried to the BBC at a time when we particularly needed a strong message sent. It would appear that a number of people in powerful situations cry 'racism' or 'sexism' when they have no better argument to make. Of course prejudice and bullying must be called out but those who cry wolf must not be indulged. Here's the article that originally inspired this petition.
