The Issue

On May 25, 2026, disgraced former Waco attorney Adam Dean Hoffman walked out of the McLennan County Jail after serving only 29 days. Hoffman was originally facing a first-degree felony for the continuous sexual abuse of an 8-year-old child—a charge that carries up to life in prison.

Instead of facing justice, a heavily criticized plea bargain by the Texas Attorney General’s Office allowed him to plead guilty to two minor misdemeanors. Shockingly, prosecutors allowed the victim's age to be scrubbed from the final paperwork. This calculated legal maneuver allowed Hoffman to **completely evade mandatory registration as a sex offender**.

Today, Hoffman is a free man living in Nebraska. Because of this loophole, the families and children in his new community are entirely unaware of his history. To make matters worse, his law license was not permanently revoked; it was only suspended for five years, leaving the door open for him to re-enter the legal profession.

This is a devastating failure of our justice system. The safety of our communities and the protection of children should never be traded away in backroom plea deals.

**Our Call to Action:**

We are launching this petition to demand systemic change from Texas lawmakers, Nebraska public safety officials, and the State Bar of Texas. We demand:

1. That Hoffman be held accountable for the continuous sexual abuse of a minor, which could be someone's child. He needs to be registered and watched for these actions.

2. That he be removed from any position of authority due to his actions.

3. The new local community he has fled to, as this is what it seems to be, going from one state to another after commiting such atrocious acts.

**Sign this petition to demand that predators are held accountable, legal loopholes are closed, and our children are protected.**
