Actually address camping/tunneling in Dead by Daylight
The Issue
Having played Dead by Daylight for years, the persistent issue of tunneling and camping is slowly eroding my enjoyment of this otherwise thrilling game. It's disheartening to find oneself in a game frequently turned into a dull and frustrating 'killer stare down on a hook simulator.' As players, we all want to enjoy the intense cat-and-mouse gameplay that Dead by Daylight is known for. Yet, the issue of killers camping hooks remains unaddressed and is sapping the fun out of the experience.
In Dead by Daylight, when a survivor is hooked, they enter a timer-based phase that progressively leads to their demise. If they are camped by a killer, they have very little chance of being rescued by teammates, leading to an unfair and often early exit from the game. The lack of self-unhook options after the first phase only exacerbates the problem. This is a significant issue in the endgame, where every action counts, and fairness should be paramount.
I propose the introduction of an unhook meter or alternative option specifically designed for the endgame scenario. This feature would ensure that survivors on the second or final phase of the hook have a feasible chance of escaping, promoting strategic gameplay over baseless camping. Adopted wisely, this could balance the scales between survivors and killers, making matches more competitive and enjoyable for all.
Behavior Interactive needs to take a definitive step in rectifying this by implementing mechanics that discourage camping and tunneling. This crucial change could rejuvenate the player base and foster a more engaging and fair gaming environment.
