A union is supposed to protect its members - to fight for their safety, their wages, their rights.

Since 2009, Actors Equity Association has failed to do the one job a union has - protect its membership in the face of those who would take advantage. 

In solidarity with the cast of the CATS First National Tour, and in direct protest of AEA’s unwillingness to actively investigate claims of recoupment and protect the wages of SETA-contracted performers on CATS and numerous other national tours, I am hereby withholding my own bi-annual dues payment until Actors Equity takes public responsibility and verifiable action steps regarding these longstanding, documented concerns. 

I encourage ALL of my fellow members, in signing this petition and withholding these dues, to stand with the artists who have been lied to, with key financial information withheld from them by the union that was created to PROTECT artists. 

AEA has proven year after year that it operates in service to itself and its leadership only. We are over 51,000 strong, and more powerful as a collective than they ever want us to know. YOUR signature and your taking a stand will be what turns the tide.
