As an occupant of Elkstone Hall, I am reaching out on behalf of myself and everyone who shares my experiences on a daily basis. The rooms in Elkstone Hall are unbearably hot, creating an uncomfortable and unproductive environment for those of us who value this space. While the outside temperature may vary, buildings like ours should maintain a steady and comfortable temperature around 68-72 degrees fahrenheit, as suggested by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). Unfortunately, Elkstone Hall falls far short of these standards and urgently needs a cooling solution.

The lack of air conditioning is not just an issue of comfort, it directly affects productivity and wellbeing. Scientific studies have shown that heat can impair cognitive function, negatively affecting focus, memory, and mental agility.(Source: Harvard School of Public Health). We believe implementing air conditioning in Elkstone Hall is not a luxury, it's a necessity.

We urge the management of Elkstone Hall to act promptly on this issue, and rectify it before more people have to endure the heat. No one should have to study or work in such unbearable conditions. Please take our plea into consideration, make Elkstone Hall a comfortable place for all, and sign this petition.
